Elmley
Despite the frequent showers I made the most of the day and had some good birds at Elmley RSPB on Sheppey. Redshank and Lapwing along the access road looked to have had a good breeding season and there were a fair number of Yellow Wagtails.
On the scrapes the highlight was undoubtedly the 3 Spoonbill which broke all the rules by actually getting up and wading around feeding. Also on the scrape were c12 Spotted Redshank, plenty of Avocet and a scattering of Black-t Godwit.
I had a Hobby on the walk back and found someone scoping a very obscured Long-eared Owl in the orchard by the car-park.
